![]() ![]() (As an experiment I tried a Rigidity Kinematic constraint between the post and bracket at (say) 5.5s. How can I "unstick" them, or make them properly rigid, or, is this perhaps a glitch? which seems to "stick" them together, as from 6 seconds on I then move the post Only, but the bracket apparently moves according to the "transform" of back when they were both lying down at the beginning of the Rotation at 4s. Then at 4s I select both Post and Bracket and rotate them (I.e. (Only 2 individual (non Dynamic) components in model, nothing else only model axis (not local) used in Animator)įrom 0 to 3 seconds is a demonstration and is fine (single selection rotation). problem from 6 seconds on in example file attached. Hopefully, this tutorial has enabled you to think about the move tool from a slightly different perspective than what you are used to.Am I doing something wrong here?. Whether you know the direction and distance or not, the Move tool is incredibly flexible when coupled with the inference system. Snap to the edge or face you want to be in plane with, and click to finish.Tap an arrow key to define the direction along that axis.Click on a point on the object that you wish to make in plane with another point or face in the model. ![]() Select the object with the Select tool. ![]() ![]() This makes it much easier to move because you can lock the direction during each step, and only have to worry about the distance along each axis. So instead of trying to get objects in position in one step along an arbitrary direction and distance, it’s better to think about how the object needs to align along each of the red, green, and blue axis, one at a time. Aligning objectsĪnother very common move workflow is aligning objects along each of the three axes, one at a time. Holding Shift while snapped to an axis or point will lock that direction temporarily. Tapping the down arrow key while hovering over an edge will toggle a parallel or perpendicular inference. There are other ways to lock a direction too. You are free to snap to any point in your model. Is it possible to force Sketchup to align to one specific axis Can I say: Sketchup, move this along the red axis, and nothing else Not blue, not green, not diagonal, but on the red P. It moves the object arbitrary in some 3D direction. Notice how you don’t need to keep your mouse on the object when you lock a direction. I currently work in a model where Sketchup is unwilling to move an object on the main axes, red and green.
